Do you wonder who they are? They are just the official mascots of the London 2012 Olympiad and Paralympics, and soon they will conquer the hearts of every spectator in the world’s greatest sporting spectacle. Yet, what’s in the name?

When the two mascots were unveiled two years ago, they received various reactions from the public and critics. Some said that the design was the least being expected to be chosen since there were certainly numerous designs that could be readily associated with the host city London, like Big Ben mascot or perhaps George the Lion mascot. But, the Olympics organizers were too convinced to defend that Wenlock and Mandeville are not just ordinary mascots of the Olympics. They have rich historical significance to both the Olympics and Paralympics and the design was especially created to inspire children. Sebastian Coe, the chairman of the London organizing committee said that the design could easily connect to young people with sport and could proudly tell the story of England’s Olympic and Paralympic history.

Sorting out good memories through my compiled photos, I could not help but tempted to write this post to share some of the beautiful places that I’ve been to recently in England. They are all stunning, majestic, and historically significant sites that do not need a hyperbolic description; because the pictures in fact could captivate your imagination. I don’t have the high-end LSR to capture the panorama, but my old Sony Digital camera is a huge help to collect 
these gorgeous landscape and scenery.

CHALLENGES on the ROAD to LONDON 2012

The London 2012 Olympics carries the challenge to surpass Beijing’s spectacular hosting of 2008. The construction of Olympic venues scattered all over London is going on round the clock. Few are nearly finished whilst some venues will use historic facilities to promote the rich history of London and Great Britain in general.

This biggest sporting event of the world will officially start on July 27 2012. It can be remembered, that London won the bid to host the Summer Olympics against Paris in 2005 after hurdling three other great cities of Moscow, New York, and Madrid. From then on, the Olympic Committee of UK has worked and managed hard to make the country’s hosting not only successful but also memorable. But, as the opening date draws closer, some problems begin to emerge.
